Sparring

Posted 2024/06/29 9:02 AM by Rico Boxing Gym

In the help files (Practice against this fighter section), it mentions that you will practice against a “special version of the sparring partner.” Can someone elaborate on this? What does “special version mean?

There used to be a special version of the sparring resourse that you
could kind of guess the opponents build and other AP's. I guess help
needs to be updated because alot of stuff seems to be way out of date,,LOL.

Ok. Someone needs to explain this to me. I was suspicious of this, but I just confirmed it. When sparring an opponent, their style is always (covers up). I mean every single time, literally. I checked my next potential opponent’s previous fights, and in ALL his fights his style was (cutting off the ring). I began a sparring session with him, and his style was…….wait for it……(covers up). So what’s the deal? How do I prepare for a fighter if I have no way to know his style of fighting throughout a match?

Ok, you can only see the FP in sparring against a bot that is 3 rated or lower. Unless you are fighting a bot in a real fight that is 3 or under you have no idea what your opponents plan is. You have to scout his last fights and if it is a robot fighter you can guess his plan and you write it in sparring. If it is a active manager that changes plans you have to guess what he will do and also write it in sparring for your opponent. If you put nothing in a fighter or bot that is over a 3 rating you have to guess his plan. If you put nothing in it will default to 1/1/18 which is (cover up).

Ok. I gotcha. So only fighters with a history will you be able to see what style they use per round and situation. So if there is no history of fights, you’re basically guessing. And sparring is just to put a practice fight plan in for your opponent so that you can practice with your guy against him. Correct?

Yes you are correct. If you are fighting a short fighter more than likely be using clinch or inside. If he is a taller fighter he will probably be using ring or outside. There exceptions to every rule though. If you are close in height try using different things for you and your opponent and use what you think works best.
