elford moved to Charlotte from the Puddy farm in Eastern Carolina a couple months after his older brother Cephus. Even though Belford is only 18, the success of his brother convinced Riblet to allow him to start work in the kitchen making cole slaw and lemonade, and to start training in the Gym. Riblet even offered him a 35 cent per hour raise over his farming wages to make sure to keep Belford's attention on his work and training.
As it turns out, Belford makes excellent coleslaw. He is the reigning Richmond County Fair Cole Slaw champion winning five consecutive years, and he intends to win the Mecklenburg County Fair Cole Slaw championship this year as well. As Stink Bug tells it, "Aunt Edna learned me 'bout whut Meema Hurlocker learned from her daddy's cousin Bobby Joe Walker 'bouts the ta way to cut up the cabbage an carrots an such. An my mama always said ta 'spect yur elders an whut dey sez. An I jess used that wit some Helmann's mayonnaise an some vinegar, molasses, an a couple spices. 'Taint nothin!"
Riblet has thus far been impressed with both Belford's cole salw and his boxing skills, so much so that Stink Bug will be representing Riblet's House of Good Eatin' in the Stormcomin' Fantasy Boxing tournament this winter. On finding out from Riblet that his first professional fight would be against Stan "Stormrider" Wicker, he was quoted as yelling out "I GOTS WICKER PEOPLE!"
