Robert Fraser was an exemplary RCMP officer. He spent his years in uniform working at various Northern outposts. His dedication to duty often meant leaving his family, his wife and his son Benton, behind for extended periods of time.
The death of his wife was devastating to Robert. His son was very young when this happened, but he does remember his father growing a beard, unusual for the clean-cut Mountie. When Robert returned to work, Benton went to live with his grandparents. Robert did not spend a lot of time with his son while he was growing up, but Benton had immense respect for his father, and followed in his footsteps when he joined the R.C.M.P.
Robert Fraser was murdered while investigating corruption regarding a hydro-electric project - corruption which lead back to fellow officer Gerard. Upon learning of his death, his son took it upon himself to investigate the circumstances surrounding his father's death. To continue his investigation, the younger Fraser asked to be transfered to the Canadian Consulate in Chicago. He has remained there even after solving that mystery.
In death, Fraser Sr. remains a presence in his son's life. He often appears to his son to give advise - whether it was asked for or not.
