Dixon Lavelle was named after George Dixon, the first Welterweight champion of the world. Of course George Dixon`s title is disputable because he was champion before there were any governing bodies such as the WBF or EKO. Dixon Lavelle picked up the nickname "Livy" as an amateur when people noticed that he fought much like the great Titus Harvey.
