In the course of a lifetime, you're lucky if you get one true-blue friend, one best buddy, one "brother" who bleeds when you're cut and laughs when you need a smile. Donald was that brother to me, though we were unrelated. I lost Donald to cancer on May 26, 2001, (he held on until I arrived at the hospital before he died) after more than 30 years of brotherhood. My life will never be the same, and I miss him more with each passing day. I trust he's saving me a barstool in heaven, for when my time arrives.
