Mexican Merolino Fernandez comes straight out from a book where he was a middleweight and got royally beaten by an American called Count Pickett in his hometown. In the book, serial killings of women were taking place at around that time as well but that is beside the point. From one writer's imagination to another (much less original, alas), Merolino has made the transition to super-bantam where hopefully he fares better and does not meet another fighter called Count Pickett.
