Congratulations DTG!!!
Week 8 Review
4/9/07
The final week
of the tournament has come upon us and DTG has walked away with the crown
with almost ease. The title has been etched forever with the engraving
of the names of DTG and Dynamite 5000, and DTG has already received the 10
Gym Credits to his account. I hope this title goes well with the
incredible amounts of titles DTG has in his gym already. I am sure that
this feat of the first annual 5000 Gloves Tournament will be legendary.
Supercluney's Mystery Science
Theater 5000 has had his up and downs in this tournament, literally, as MST5K
was 3-3 against the Botton's with those three losses ending his nights with
KO's. His latest bout against one of the Marsolo Brother's
yielded a loss by a decision but he was able to put on the tournament score
board 430 landed punches which put him in fourth place to end the tournament.
However, despite the failings of MST5K, supercluney's management skills are
quickly being recognized as during this week he had gone from Rookie to
Journeyman by winning the Straw Weight Regional Title with one of his other
straw weights,
Tommy "One Hit"
Wonder Jr. Kudos!!!
OC 5000 must have been killing
psmith17 throughout this tournament. Even though OC 5000 was able to
pull out a 4-2 against the Botton's, it was the few weeks of challenges that
didn't go his way and the slow hands of OC 5000 that failed to capitalize on
high punch counts that made OC 5000 the turtle in this hare race. The
fighter we should have been watching was his other straw weight... strangely
named THELP. This straw weight fighter has put up a 2-1 record against
the Botton's, burying one by KO... and he's been burying opponents ever
since, the latest one against one of Duke's
`Speriment
fighters.
ukpete's 5000th Best Fighter in TBG
has struggled throughout this tournament with finally getting off the ground
at the end, but this week it cost him. 5000th Best Fighter in TBG
landed 576 punches against his opponent Willem de Zwijger managed by Eddy
Crown but still ended up with a draw and ended up with the booby prize of the
week by throwing the most landed punches. This only allowed him to put
up 76 landed punches on the score board after deducting the 500 landed
punches that went with this weeks challenge. 5000th Best Fighter in TBG never
faced a Botton, but did face one 5000 fighter which he lost by decision,
maybe 5001th Best Fighter in TBG will have better luck next time.
Alamo Athletic Club's Alamo
Athletic Club 5000 put the wheels back on this week and racked up the 1000
landed punch bonus that came with this weeks challenge. The 1446 landed
punches pushed his final total to 3726 landed punches putting AAC5K in second
place again to end the tournament. AAC5K had faced two Botton's during
the tournament which was an exchange of KO's and AAC5K had beat the 5000th
Best Fighter in TBG by a decision during the first and only meeting of 5000
fighters. It was an interesting start as AAC5K won their fight but the
challenge of the week ended up going in ukpete's favor. But it wasn't
just the 5000 fighters that were creating the havoc, the arsenal of Alamo
Athletic Club Malone's were putting the Botton's out of business like
Wal-Mart all during this tournament.
DTG's Dynamite 5000 was always the
one to beat as soon as DTG plugged in his FP. Starting the tournament
with 671 landed punches was just the beginning of the domination that his
fighter has displayed throughout this tournament. DTG has dodged every
curve ball that was thrown at him by the challenges and Dynamite 5000 blasted
to the easy victory by the sheer volume of landed punches this fighter is
shown to be capable of. He easily walked over two Botton's and everyone
else in his way as I know I have plugged him into my Fighter Links as a
fighter to watch in the future.
I wonder if any future 5000 Glove
Tournaments will yield such a speedy victory and the amount of Botton of The
Week Awards that DTG had piled up, but DTG would not win the last Botton of
the Week Award, this honor would go to Alamo Athletic Club. The 1446
landed punches will obviously be a milestone of total landed punches in one
week that includes challenges. With DTG's substantial lead, 1000 landed
punch bonus would have little effect, but it probably won't be seen again,
making it a landed punch total mark to beat.
