Grudge Fight Press (is that thing working at the moment?) and forums have been quiet last few months, but we finally have a grudge fight to write about. As usual let me know if there is any fights you want to nominate.

Grudge Factor: Background: Check Duke's Battle Royale thread in the tournament forum for the background story. Chimpanzee's management was complaining about being fight picked by Whittler. Marsolo came out and claimed this is pay back for Duke gooning his 14-0 slugger a few years back. After that, it just got worse and heated accusation of liars and cheaters were thrown. Chimpanzee is an impressive young champion with a perfect 15-0 record, a champ who has knocked out all but one of his opponents. Being a tourney fighter, he achieved that perfect championship record by remaining active week in week out in a single division so it was definitely a big achievement. Whittler, on the other hand, has twice the fight experience and is a bit more agile (this usually play a big role in slugger vs slugger). I am sure both fighters can't wait to put some permanent damages to their opponent. Fight Review: Fight started quite typically with the stronger Chimpanzee trying to wear his opponent down and Whittler taking the early lead on scorecards while trying to keep Chimpanzee honest (keep endurance close). Despite Whittler's best efforts, Chimpanzee had worn him down enough to win many of the crucial mid-late rounds. Coming into the decisive 12th round, the score was pretty close with two judges had Whittler leading narrowly and one had Chimpanzee leading by 1 point. Chimpanzee was a bit fresher but had a swelling above his right eye. Chimpanzee went inside for the kill and Whittler met him head on, trying to take advantage of the champ's damaged eye. A beautiful left punch to the nose floored Whittler, but he got up after the 7th count. A crashing left uppercut a few seconds later knocked the challenger out of the ring. Whittler managed to get up again at the 9th count and somehow finished the fight on his feet. The final round knock downs were just enough for Chimpanzee to claim a majority decision win. Aftermath: Chimpanzee has signed up to defend his belt against other challengers, can anyone stop this beast? The verbal sparring between the two managers continue on the forum.

Grudge Factor: Background: No real grudge, but I just thought I should mention this series as this will be the 5th fight between these two heavyweight rivals. Pope won the 1st fight by TKO after messing up both Junior's eyes. Junior won by a comfortable decision in their 2nd fight as Pope went for head and gave up valuable points. Pope totally dominated the third fight (119-106 score one one scorecard) and knocked Junior down twice in the 12th. After realising the true extent of Pope's abilities, Junior switched tactic and fought like a little girl (fought 8 hide 4) to snatch a split decision win in their 4th bout. Guess which way it will go this time? Fight Review: Junior sticked with last week fight plan and was severely punished as a result. Pope kept hammering on the helpless Junior (who backpedaled with high aggressiveness, trying to win enough rounds) until Junior couldn't even remember which corner is his. The fight wasn't even close, the one sided beating only stop after Junior's manager threw in the towel. Aftermath: Junior had to be taken into the hospital after beating. Doctor said that he had taken much more permanent damage in the 5 fights against the Pope than all his other 51 fights combined. The pair will meet again for fight #6 next week, let's hope it's a bit closer this time. Regardless of the outcome, Junior will go on a break until new year as manager Fong take the whole gym on a well deserved holiday to Japan.
